Gold Surges 3.23% to Highest Level Since 2020 — Biggest Daily Gain

Gold futures on the Comex exchange surged today, with the front-month April contract closing at a record high of $3,155.20 per troy ounce.

The session’s advance amounted to $98.70, or 3.23%, the biggest one-day percentage increase since April 9, 2020. This rally extends a three-session winning streak, during which the metal has gained $203.90, or 6.91%—the largest three-day percentage gain since March 25, 2020.

Measured from its 52-week low of $2,291.40 on April 30, 2024, gold is now up 37.70%. Year-over-year, the metal has risen 33.99%. Since the 2025 low of $2,638.40 reached on January 6, gold has recovered 19.59%. Month-to-date the price is up 1.04%, while year-to-date gains total 20.01%, equal to a $526.00 increase per troy ounce.
