Trump: July 9 Tariff Deadline Stands — No Extension Planned

President Donald Trump told Fox News that he does not intend to extend the current 90-day pause on global tariffs beyond the July 9 deadline.

The administration plans to begin sending notification letters to affected countries “pretty soon,” alerting them that tariffs will be reinstated and could range from 10% to 50% depending on the nation.

Trump said the final tariff rate for each country will be determined by the quality of its trade relationship with the United States, explaining, “We’ll look at how a country treats us — are they good, are they not so good.”

Although the administration initially pursued an ambitious goal of negotiating 90 separate trade agreements within the 90-day window, Trump conceded at a recent press briefing that concluding individual deals with every nation would be difficult.
